Getting Started with Creating Good Quality Backlinks
Backlinks are the term used to describe a set of links that direct you to another website or page. These can be a great benefit to someone that is looking to stand out because they are able to use backlinks to increase their SEO ranking. There are some important rules that must be followed, however, in order to ensure that backlinks are used for good rather than evil. Using them the wrong way can end up flagging your site or making you actually drop down in the ranks.
In order to get started, you need to think about what sites you want to link. Are there any businesses or sites that are similar to yours? Is there a parent site that provides the same types of services that you do? You may even broaden your spectrum and think about sites that offer cover something similar, even if it isn’t the same as you. The key thing to do here is to think about as many different topics and sites as possible so that you have a nice, long, list. You are looking for topics, so it doesn’t matter if you consider them a competitor or not, you should write them down to make things easier for you later on down the road.
After you’ve done that, it’s time to think about people and communities. Think about and write down people or networks that will be beneficial to you and your business. Are there people out there that blog about the same kinds of things. Do you know any experts in the industry that have a strong voice in the community? See what types of people are out there and write them down. Just like with the companies, you want to have as many names as possible.
Once you’ve completed those two tasks, you can finally start to narrow down your list. See which communities and blogs aren’t being maintained anymore. If they have been inactive, you should go ahead and cross them off. See which communities will impact your business the most and get rid of the bottom few. If you have too many big names that have the same type of influence, you may want to pick one or the other and stick to them.
When you have that list nice and trimmed down, it’s time to start linking and networking with them. See if they would be interested in linking your site from time to time, but don’t feel bad if they decline your offer. If they do agree to do this, make sure that you return the favor and help them out as well. Having links like this will help generate traffic and ultimately help everyone involved by bringing in new people.
While this won’t work for every single industry out there, it’s a good step to try out and see if it works for you.
