Do you know the best time to share content on social media channels? When it comes to social media marketing, the day of the week, the time of day, and even the frequency with which you post can have a tremendous impact on the amount of engagement you receive. Rather than simply posting when you have a few spare minutes, it’s important to understand the best time to post for the specific audience and social media channel you plan to target. The social media tips below can help you to identify the best time to post on social media platforms.

Facebook

Unlike other social media channels, which often receive traffic on a daily basis, Facebook tends to receive most of its traffic leading into the weekend. So, the best time to post on Facebook is usually on Thursday and Friday as people are winding down the work week. Schedule your posts for early afternoon to catch your targeted audience in your relevant time zone. Make sure you do not overdo it when it comes to posting on Facebook. One post every two days will do the trick on this social media channel.

Twitter

Twitter is a different breed altogether. The best time to post on Twitter depends on whether you are targeting B2B or B2C. For B2B, your best days to post are Monday through Friday, whereas Wednesday and the weekend are usually the best time for B2C. To get the highest number of retweets, aim for around 5 p.m., when people are concluding their workday.

LinkedIn

LinkedIn has always had a bit of a different feel than most other social media channels, so it only makes sense that you need to take a slightly different approach. Schedule your posts for LinkedIn on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday during regular business hours. To make the most of the reach offered by LinkedIn, set a goal of posting a minimum of 20 updates monthly.

Pinterest

Since the bulk of the content posted on Pinterest is related to crafts and hobbies, it’s better to schedule your posts for this social media channel for Saturday, when people actually have time to tackle a new project. The great news about Pinterest is that you can post far more frequently on this platform without worrying about overkill. Aim for about five posts per day. Somewhat surprisingly, around 2 a.m. tends to be a good time to post. Other excellent times to post on Pinterest for maximum exposure include late afternoon and late evening, between 8 p.m. and 11 p.m.

Instagram

Engagement on Instagram tends to remain relatively consistent throughout the workweek, but your best time to post is usually around 5 p.m. You can also usually pick up a greater degree of engagement with posts about 2 a.m.

Learning to decipher the mood of social media marketing and determining the best time to post to maximize engagement can feel like a full-time job. If you need assistance, a social media marketing firm can help make the job easier.
