SEO plan in 2017

As companies modernize and use new technology, SEO, or search engine optimization, has become one of the most important factors to help bring business to you. Although people have been using various SEO strategies for years now, they are constantly changing as times change. While some of the methods that worked in 2014, 2015 or 2016 will still be helpful, others should not be part of your SEO plan in 2017. When forming your plan, you should stick to newer strategies, as some of the older ones are outdated. The following are some of the most important factors you will need to keep in mind.

Quality Content in Your SEO Plan

The first thing you need to keep in mind when creating your SEO plan in 2017 is actually the same as in previous years, and that is making sure that you use quality content. Search engines may penalize you for content that simply uses keywords and doesn’t really contain any information. When creating your quality content, you want to make sure that not only new content, but older content as well, contains keywords.

Switching to Content Marketing in Your 2017 Plan

The difference you will notice is in the actual keywords being used. Prior to this year, businesses would try to rise as high as they could in the rankings in the most popular (or shortest) keywords. The issue is that with all of the competition today, this is no longer a feasible strategy. Instead, your SEO plan in 2017 should pay more attention to increasing brand recognition and focusing on rising in rank for keywords that are attainable, such as longer ones that face less competition.

Link Building as Part of the SEO Plan

As with including quality content, creating links back to your website has remained much the same in 2017 as it was in previous years. This remains a great way to boost your rankings and to introduce more potential clients to your page. The only change is that now it is important to focus more on quality links in your SEO plan as opposed to sheer quantity, as links from unrelated sites are unlikely to actually increase traffic.

Using Social Media for SEO

Perhaps the biggest change that you should see in your SEO plan in 2017 compared to previous years is in terms of social media. It is true that social media has been growing in importance so many people included it in their 2017 plans, but now it is more crucial than ever. In addition to providing the basic benefits, such as link building, placing keywords, and brand recognition, social media is actually one of the most important platforms today. The key to using social media in your SEO plan is to focus on the networks where your clients are.

Google Authorship to Boost SEO

A final thing to consider when forming and implementing your SEO plan in 2017 is Google Authorship. To some extent, being a Google Author will affect your ranking, but there is no number as to how significantly it will do so. Some people are even speculating that if you don’t establish yourself as a qualified Author via Google with a good reputation, your ranking will eventually drop significantly. At this point, there isn’t a large difference, but part of your 2017 plan should include plans for the future, and Authorship is an important consideration.
